This project develops a customization and extension of the project management methodology, used by the Telecommunications sector at Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE), to be applied to ICE Data Center (IDC). This is one of its new businesses and is focused on selling Information Technology services to business customers. Customization focuses on adapting existing tools to suit a more dynamic business model and a service management system founded on ITIL v3. Extensions focus on developing new tools for the based methodology, and for the management of quality, risk, audits and handover of projects into production. Tools are developed to meet the specific requirements of managing IT projects at IDC, including recommendations and guidelines based on industry´s best practices. A guideline is provided for improving estimation processes for scope and time, as well as the improvement in management of quality, risk, audits and incorporates as a new element the management of project delivery into production. The process group of monitoring and controlling projects is also enhanced, since this is an area where big opportunities for improvement were detected.
