Inventario de gases efecto invernadero de diez instalaciones de una institución pública costarricense
Resumen
The climate change is a worldwide problem caused primarily by the anthropogenic activities
as burning of fossil fuels, and whose consequences generate a negative impact on all living
beings in general. In Costa Rica actions are already being taken in order to control it,
nevertheless, there are still sectors that have weaknesses in this issue, as it is the case of
public institutions which have low compliance in the elaboration of greenhouse gas
inventories. Through this project, it was elaborated the inventory of greenhouse gases in the
Costa Rican public institution National Institute for Women (INAMU), following the
methodology of the national standard INTE B5:2016, subsequently, taking into account the
data obtained and observed during visits made to ten of the facilities of the institution, an
action plan to reduce the emissions was made, considering the investment costs of the
suggested actions, also, improvements were proposed to facilitate the implementation of the
action plan proposed to this institution. It was obtained that in 2016 INAMU generated
146,27 ton CO 2 e of which the consumption of electricity and use of vehicles correspond to
the sources of greater generation and the central building corresponds to the building with
the greatest contribution to the inventory due to being the largest installation. The proposed
measures to be implemented in the action plan would reduce 17,57 ton CO 2 e and would
generate savings of ₡ 12 765 985,35. In addition, making changes associated mainly with
the collection of data records would facilitate the implementation and follow-up process of
the proposed action plan.
