Abstract
El video expone el origen griego del término trigonometría, unido a la historia del concepto de hace aproximadamente 2000 años. Se mencionan algunos de los más prominentes filósofos y matemáticos de la sociedad griega y sus aportes: Tales de Mileto, Aristarco de Samos, Eratóstenes, Hiparco de Nicea y Ptolomeo. Se concluye mencionando el uso en la navegación, geografía y la óptica. The video exposes the Greek origin of the term trigonometry, together with the history of the concept of approximately 2000 years ago. Some of the most prominent philosophers and mathematicians of Greek society and their contributions are mentioned: Thales of Miletus, Aristarchus of Samos, Eratosthenes, Hipparchus of Nicea and Ptolemy. It concludes by mentioning the use in navigation, geography and optics.
