Diseño de un sistema SCADA para la automatización de la planta de tratamiento de aguas de la empresa Cargill en San Rafael de Alajuela
Resumen
This document proposes the evaluation and design of a SCADA that achieves the
automatization of Cargill’s Residual water treatment plant. To carry out the design proposal
the company was consulted about the main needs that have to be covered. The purpose of the
automatization is not only to improve the efficiency of the plant but to have a better preventive
maintenance of the equipment.
The design is not only based on the hardware but in the software as well, the design of a
complete system is proposed from the sensors in the plant to the visualization software in the
operator's computer that allows the control and supervise the plant remotely. The proposed
solution shows the programming of the equipment to allow the autonomous control of the plant,
in addition to the communication between devices of different types through the Modbus
TCP/IP protocol.
The project contemplates the use of different devices such as: motors, pumps, relays, electro
valves, level sensors, flow sensors, frequency variators, controllers, PLCs, and others. The
design considered the components that currently exist in the plant and those that must be
acquired to achieve the final objective. Through an economic study, the feasibility of
implementing the system was determined.
The main idea of the project is to leave the design ready for an eventual implementation by the
company, in case of carrying out the designed SCADA will be incorporated into the general
SCADA with which the plant has.
