dc.descriptionThe result of some interviews made to the main actors in the wind turbines field in Costa Rica, as well as a literature review are presented in the current work. First, an outline of the roll of wind power in the national electrical power system is given, then, the achievements in wind energy research in the academic field, the research centers and the business sector are pointed out. In the academic field, the wind turbine built in the 1990s at the Costa Rican Institute of Technology, points out, being the first aerogenerator manufactured in the country using modern technology. With regard to research centers, the details about Ad Astra Rocket’s wind turbine, built between 2012 and 2016, are given. In the business sector, an emphasis is made on the SkyTwister, which has been subject of research and development in Costa Rica for more than 10 years and has received multiple awards nationally and internationally. Summarizing, the current research in the field of wind turbines, is exclusively carried out by Carlos Acosta Nassar with the SkyTwister turbine, the company “Interdinámica Energía”, and the Costa Rica Institute of Technology through its Wind Power Research Lab (known in Spanish as LIENE).en-US
dc.descriptionSe presenta una revisión de literatura y el producto de entrevistas realizadas a los principales actores en el campo de las turbinas eólicas en Costa Rica. Luego de dar un panorama general del rol de la energía eólica en la matriz energética del país, se profundiza en los logros obtenidos en el campo de la investigación en la academia, centros de investigación y el sector empresarial. En el campo académico, destaca la turbina eólica fabricada en el Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica en la década de 1990, un valioso antecedente por ser el primer aerogenerador fabricado en el país usando tecnología moderna. En cuanto a centros de investigación se brindan detalles del aerogenerador fabricado en Ad Astra Rocket entre 2012 y 2016. Dentro del sector empresarial se enfatiza en la SkyTwister, una turbina eólica que ha sido objeto de investigación y desarrollo por más de 10 años en Costa Rica y que ha recibido múltiples galardones a nivel nacional e internacional. En síntesis, la investigación en el campo de turbinas eólicas se desarrolla únicamente por Carlos Acosta Nassar con la turbina SkyTwister, la empresa Interdinámica Energía y el Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica mediante el Laboratorio de Investigación en Energía Eólica (LIENE).es-ES
