Abstract
The purpose of this project was to evaluate the physical work environment that could influence positively or negatively in the work environment satisfaction in the Sección de Solicitudes Celulares at Tribunal Supremo de Elecciones (TSE) with headquarters in San José, Costa Rica. Consequently, quantitative evaluations were made in the workplace in order to get results related with the before elements of study. In the case of the noise, it was measured through the methodology entitled “Study of areas by aleatory sampling”. In addition, in order to establish the first detection in the thermos-hygrometers conditions in the place, a TBGH rate methodology was used. Three methodologies were applied to determine the levels of illuminance and illumination requirements such as “Assessment of Illuminance levels”, “Evaluation of the reflectance factor” and “Zonal Cavity method”. Finally, furniture was evaluated according to “Ergonomic control list for office furniture based on the OSHA standards” At the end of the evaluation, the researcher could verify the following data: the Sound Pressure Level (SPL) ranges from 55 dB (A) and 75 dB (A), the internal TGHB is less than 30°C, and lighting does not reach the minimum required of 750 lux and; in the 17 areas of work, chairs are over 50% of fulfillment, whereas in ten areas of work, desks are over 50% of accomplishment. As a conclusion, work physical environment and presence of disconformity such as sonic, thermal and visual and deficient design of some furniture could influence negatively the work satisfaction of the officeholder in the evaluated area.
