Exposición Ocupacional a Radiación Ultravioleta en Poblaciones Agrícolas de la Provincia de Cartago.
Resumen
Exposure to solar radiation in agricultural workers is a global issue. Agriculture in Costa Rica
represents 15% of GDP and 20% of the workforce. Costa Rica is characterized by primary
agriculture crops, which represent 82% of agricultural land in the country. Costa Rican
population is affected with skin cancer, accounting for 25% of the causes of cancer nationwide.
The objective of this project was to evaluate occupational exposure to ultraviolet radiation in
agricultural workers in the province of Cartago. The specific objectives were to characterize
exposure to Ultraviolet Radiation (UVR) in workers, quantify the level of radiation (W/m2) to set
out and determine the standard erythema dose (SED) of agricultural workers
