Establishment of improvements in the Management of Production to reduce the delays in the delivery of orders of printing families in black and color., Graduation Project. Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica. Consulting Professor: Ing. Dennis Arias Ramírez. MEng. The present project was developed in the company Servicio de Impresos Fénix S.A. and consisted of a study to detect and establish improvements related to the variables that affect Production Control for the families of products "Small black format" and "Small format color". The objective of the project was to reduce the delays in the production of orders of these two families to improve the delivery times given to customers because, at present, there is a delay of 28.31% of orders, this incurs an opportunity cost close to six millions of colones. In the diagnosis of the current situation, 4 variables were quantified that influence the Control of Production in the families mentioned, these are: Machine, Delivery time, Finish type and Total cost of the order. Likewise, two main improvement areas were established in the production stage of the families under study, that are given by the way in which orders are entered into production and the organization of work envelopes. The first solution proposal consists of a tool developed in the Visual Studio® software to enter the data of the key variables determined in the diagnosis that calculates the priority of the order made according to these variables, with the establishment of this priority improves the system so that 6 more orders per week can be processed, which are equivalent to ₡ 4,626,977.73 per month. On the other hand, the purchase of a metal shelving is proposed in order to sort the work envelopes in the production area that allows the reduction of dead times. With the evaluation of the proposals, it was concluded that the proposed improvements are economically feasible, and generate a high economic benefit with a recoverable investment in a short time because their recovery period of the investment is only one month.es
