dc.descriptionThe present study shows the evolution of COVID-19 in the 54 African countries up to November 2021. The main aim is to determine the evolution of the new infections and deaths related to COVID-19 that occur in the continent and its comparison with the rest of the world. The study analysed available data from online sources, e.g. “Statista”, John Hopkins University, and WHO. Additionally, the study analysed the vaccination progress by continent identifying strengths and weaknesses for managing the health crisis provoked by SARS-CoV-2. Despite the forecast made by the WHO and other heath institutes results show Africa in the fourth place above Oceania. Lastly, this study recommends a deeper analysis of the COVID-19 epidemy in Africa and its comparison with the rest of the world.en-US
dc.descriptionEn este estudio se presenta la evolución de la sindemia de la COVID-19 en tiempo real en los 54 países africanos a noviembre 2021. El objetivo principal es determinar el avance de los casos confirmados, muertes y letalidad asociados a la COVID-19, a nivel de continente y la comparación con el resto del mundo y en cada uno de los países del continente africano. Para cumplir con el objetivo, se analizaron datos disponibles en la página de Internet “Statista” de la Universidad de John Hopkins, OMS y otros. Además, se estudiaron los avances en la vacunación por continente y se realizó una identificación de las fortalezas y debilidades del continente africano para atender la crisis sanitaria provocada por el SARS-CoV-2. Los resultados obtenidos indican que, a pesar de los pronósticos establecidos por la OMS y otros organismos de salud, que presagiaban un desastre total en África, debido a su nivel de pobreza, la deficiencia de los sistemas de salud y el poco acceso a agua potable, saneamiento e higiene, no obstante, los casos y muertes por la COVID-19, hasta el momento de la elaboración de este estudio, ubican a África en el cuarto lugar, superando a Oceanía. Por último, se recomienda identificar las hipótesis analizadas, para elaborar estudios más profundos al finalizar la epidemia de la COVID-19 e cada país en África y compararlo con otras naciones de los otros cuatro continentes del mundo.es-ES
