dc.descriptionGuacimo´s Local Government developed studies in the past concerning solid waste management in its area of influence, but lacks of specific actions oriented to using of biodegradable solid wastes. This article relates to knowledge, mind-set and behavior of a studied sample of individuals from Guácimo regarding to the use of biodegradable solid wastes in the establishment of domestic vegetables gardens, and the barriers they find to improve it. The result shows an intention from Guacimo´s inhabitants to use solid wastes and establish vegetables gardens in their homes, and their disposition to acquire knowledge or redefine their prior one, as well as to modify their behaviors, to surpass existing barriers and to develop actions driven towards environmental preservation. en-US
dc.descriptionLa Municipalidad de Guácimo ha realizado varios estudios sobre la situación de la gestión integral de residuos sólidos en el cantón, pero no ha establecido todavía acciones concretas para el aprovechamiento de los residuos sólidos biodegradables. Por tal razón, en este artículo se da a conocer la percepción de una muestra de estudio sobre los conocimientos, actitudes, comportamientos y barreras de los habitantes del cantón en relación con la implementación del uso de abono generado a partir de residuos sólidos biodegradables en huertas caseras. .Mediante el análisis estadístico, se denota una intención positiva entre los pobladores de aprovechar los residuos sólidos y plantar huertas caseras en sus hogares, y su disposición para adquirir y redefinir conocimientos, cambiar o afianzar comportamientos, superar barreras y realizar acciones en favor del ambiente.es-ES
