dc.descriptionThis study addresses and selects 198 countries globally, through the application of the Covid-19 Health Impact Index (IIS-Covid-19), through the use and development of a model, using the morbidity indicator of confirmed Covid-19 cases/100,000 inhabitants and the mortality indicators of deaths/million inhabitants and the fatality rate of the virus in each country. The results indicate that of the total of 198 nations studied: 67 (33.84%) rated the health impact as “Very Low”, 113 (57.07%) “Low”, 15 (7.58%) “Medium”. ”, 2 (1.01%) “High”, 1 (0.50%) “Very High”. Concluding, Peru followed by Sudan and Croatia were the countries most impacted by the health crisis caused directly by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. In addition to this, the most impacted continent was America with its 35 countries, with 12 countries - including Costa Rica - rated as “Medium” and Peru rated as “Very High” and number one in the world. Europe came in second place, followed by Asia, Africa, and Oceania. On the other hand, specialists' forecasts about the possible collapse of the pandemic in Africa fell, which recommends analyzing possible protective factors such as climate (sunshine hours, temperature and others); longevity and the capacity or expertise acquired in other epidemics such as Ebola, Tuberculosis, Malaria, etc. Finally, the intrinsic weaknesses of this study is the opalescence in the reporting of Covid-19 data, by some countries such as: Nicaragua, North Korea and Turkmenistan. dc.descriptionEl presente estudio aborda y selecciona 198 países a nivel global, mediante la aplicación del índice del Impacto Sanitario de la Covid-19 (IIS-Covid-19), mediante el uso y la elaboración de un modelo, utilizando el indicador de morbilidad de casos confirmados por Covid-19/100.000 hab. y los indicadores de mortalidad de muertes/millón de hab. y la tasa de letalidad del virus en cada país. Los resultados indican que del total de las 198 naciones estudiadas: 67 (33,84%) calificaron como “Muy Bajo” en el impacto sanitario, 113 (57,07%) “Bajo”, 15 (7,58%) “Medio”, 2 (1,01%) “Alto”, 1 (0,50%) “Muy Alto”. Concluyendo, que Perú seguido de Sudán y Croacia fueron los países más impactados en la crisis sanitaria provocada directamente por el virus SARS-CoV-2. Aunado a esto, el continente más impactado fue América con sus 35 países, con 12 países-incluido Costa Rica-calificaron como “Medio” y Perú calificó como “Muy Alto” y el número uno del mundo. Europa ocupó el segundo lugar, seguido por Asia, África y Oceanía. Por otro lado, los pronósticos de los especialistas sobre el posible colapso de la pandemia en África se cayeron lo cual recomienda analizar los posibles factores de protección como los climáticos (horas sol, temperatura y otros); la longevidad y la capacidad o experticia adquirida en otras epidemias como el Ébola, Tuberculosis, Malaria, etc. Por último, las debilidades intrínsecas de este estudio, es la opalescencia en el reporte de datos de la Covid-19, por parte de algunos países como: Nicaragua, Corea del Norte y Turkmenistán.
