The realization of this project was at ECONOmás Supermarkets, and consists of the design of a model for inventory management. The objective of the study was the reduction of deficiencies in the inventory management process, as well as the decrease of excess and shortfalls of product inventory. In the diagnosis of the current situation, it was determined that 8% of the product is stored at the point of sales warehouse and even then, there is a shortage of product on the store's shelves, when 2% is the ideal percentage to be kept in storage. Also, with the analysis of product demand, it is reflected the behavior stability and tendency of data. The method of work is analyzed, and it exposes the utilization of the SDACA software in a 47% of the functions of the program and a total automatization of the company by 29%. The proposal consists of the design of an inventory management model to utilize existing company resources, so it will reach a 100% of utilization in the platforms that need modification in the SDACA software. Generating a sales projection report will assure the product is in the company's distribution center and with that eliminate shortages. As part of the improvement proposal, indicators to measure the performance of the process are defined complementing the utilization of a manual of procedures in each area of the model. The implementation of this proposal provides extra storage space for complementary products, which contributes to a monthly decrease of ₡ 350,000.00 in storage costs. Also, the cost of storage will be defined to a 2% per week (approximately ₡ 2,405,658.00) of the total merchandise in the supermarket. The total cost of implementing the inventory management model is ₡ 1,206.480.00en
