dc.description.abstractEvery human being has the right to have enough water with physical, chemical and biological characteristics that allow it to be suitable for human consumption and domestic use. However, worldwide, this possibility is not available to everyone and in Costa Rica there is no exception to this problem. In the country there are areas, especially in rural areas, where water quality does not comply the parameters required for the consumption of the inhabitants. In Los Angeles, La Cureña, located in Sarapiquí, there is no communal water distribution network for the supply of the inhabitants. Due to this, people acquire water in a traditional way, using methods that do not guarantee water quality. With the objective of evaluating possible solutions strategies for water purification in the community of Los Angeles, a solar pumping system for a well with automatic detection of water quality is proposed. This system can be scaled to raise a system of wells and pumping for the community in general. Therefore, an isolated photovoltaic system was designed to feed the pumping system with autonomy of 1 day. In addition, this photovoltaic system is in the capacity to power an electronic system, which was designed to identify that the turbidity, oxidation reduction potential (ORP), temperature, pH and electrical conductivity of the water coming from the well, are within the allowed ranges in Costa Rica. Likewise, the photovoltaic system will supply the necessary energy for the operation of a remote communication system that is responsible for sending warning messages in the event of failures and / or inconveniences of the system in general. It is important to mention that the implementation of this solar pumping system in Los Angeles is outside the development of this project. Calibration tests were carried out on the sensors and subsequently tests that verify the correct functioning of the remote communication system and the water quality detection system, in a storage tank located in the Costa Rica Institute of Technology.es
