dc.description	PARADOX IN GRACIÁN: "MONSTER OF TRUTH" Few works study the use of paradox in Gracián. This is surprising, given that the Baroque had a tendency toward antithesis and contraposition, and paradox, therefore, becomes the most logical linguistic articulation of this way of seeking the inherent oppositions in the world. This scarcity of studies should also surprise us, as this tendency manifests itself frequently in the works of Gracián himself. I propose to study how Gracián develops the concept of paradox in his style manual Agudeza y arte del ingenio, and study the way he puts into practice his own theories regarding the circumstances in which this concept can be used. I analyze his ideas about paradox and apply these to Oráculo Manual, tracing his use of this technique in the second text and studying some examples of paradox to determine if the author follows his own advice regarding the appropriate use of paradox.	en-US
dc.description	Pocos trabajos proponen estudiar el uso de la paradoja en Gracián. Esto es sorprendente, porque existía en el Barroco una tendencia a la antítesis, a la contraposición y la paradoja llega a ser la articulación lingüística más lógica de este modo de buscar las oposiciones inherentes en el mundo, la cual se manifiesta con frecuencia en las obras del mismo Gracián. En esta investigación se propone estudiar cómo Gracián elabora el concepto paradójico en Agudeza y arte del ingenio. Se analizará, además, la manera en que ponen en práctica sus propias teorías sobre las circunstancias en que este concepto se puede utilizar. Con ese fin, se estudiarán sus ideas sobre la paradoja, para aplicarlas a Oráculo manual, rastreando estas técnicas en el segundo texto y trabajando algunos ejemplos de la paradoja, para ver si el autor logró seguir sus propios consejos sobre su uso apropiado.	es-ES
