______________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT The systems of telecommunications, due to their use and exhibition, constantly are affected by natural and artificial phenomena that affect the operation of the same. The atmospheric unloadings, electromagnetic inductions because of the exhibition to lines of discharge and median tension, static electricity, among others, generate conditions of overload and surge in the different parts from the complex system of telecommunications. The damages caused by overloads and surges in the different elements from the network of telecommunications, not only affect these equipment but they put in danger the people who have contact with they. In the search of a system of electrical distribution of quality for the equipment of telecommunication located in the central telephone office of the Costa Rican Institute of Electricity (ICE) located in center of San José a methodology of scientific direction has settled down that establishes the steps to follow to locate, to study and to be able to resist these disturbances in the mains detrimental for the devices destined to offer the services of telecommunications the sustenance of the international recommendations given by the IEEE. The search of the solution constitutes an investigation problem which is developed in four main stages: Analysis, Location, Selection and Installation of the corresponding protective equipment. In order to realise this work, as first step is required to install an analyzing equipment of quality of energy that constantly this monitoring mains and the possible faults that in this can be produced, soon to lead itself to look for the parameters and to realise the design of the system of protection against surges determine the proportions to the own characteristics of this central telephone office.es
