|dc.description.abstract||The development of this paper took motivation from the characterization of the alluvial material from the Reventazón River in two possible extraction places, to be applicable for the dam construction.
A detailed valoration of the material is the main purpose of the paper. These materials are in two extraction places that were establish such as Carazo and Presa places, this was made because of the application of a series of index test where granular material, abrasion, absorption, specific gravity, accelerated intemperismo, volumetric heaviness, relative density, grain rupture, point load, unidimentional compression and mineralogical classification, which will be used to give a geotechnical criterion which is supported with the application of several concerning theories, that will give crucial parameters to consider in the dam design such as the effective angle of internal friction of the material, the deformational module and the cut resistance from them.
At the end of the application of these index test, and from the methodologies of the established applications to determine the designed parameters, satisfactorial results are obtained from the investigated theory, moreover differences are established from the analyzed and studied extraction places.
As conclusion, the material from the extraction places, present similar characteristics with small variation among both materials.||es
