Elementary education, as a foundation of the Costa Rican society and as a right provided by The State in a free and mandatory way, has evolved through time along with the design of school as an education center. This institution has evolved in along with pedagogical methodologies and the creation of the term education, and has been a reflection of the country’s socioeconomic development. However, in the attempt of supplying the required demand, its design and construction have been made from a technical and non-qualitative point of view; which is why today there is a paralysis in the evolution of the design of public centers of elementary education. Neuroarchitecture, meanwhile, seeks to understand the implication that the design of a particular space has in people’s minds, in this case, it provides guidelines to improve the quality of learning spaces and, therefore, the academic performances of the students. The School José Trinidad Mora Valverde, located in Calle Fallas, Desamparados, in the province of San José, is an example among many institutions, of the infrastructure problems that affect the improvement of students’ performance. In a way, this graduation project presents the resolution of its facilities through the implementation of neuroarchitecture design guidelines, as a proposal of improvement for Costa Rican public primary education spaces in order to improve the quality of current education.
