Mapas topográficos digitalizados y determinación de calidad de las plantaciones de Teca (Tectona grandis L.f) en la empresa Panamerican Woods, finca Palo Arco, Nandayure, Guanacaste, Costa Rica
Resumen
Eight planted lots were evaluated in Tectona grandis of the Palo Arco property located in
Nandayure, Peninsula of Nicoya; belonging to the Panamerican Woods Company S.A. The
main objective was to bring upto date the topographical maps of the property and to gather
information about the actual situation of the plantation quality.
The lots registered areas that are different from the ones reported by the company, in a lower
degree in the lots 8 and 12. The diameter produced values between 19.27 cm (lot 17) and
24.23 cm (lot 32); the height between 16.79 m (lot 17) and 20.04 m (lot 35). The number of
trees is different from the lots of the same age, which reflects a silvicultural difference for
each block. The distribution maps of the basal area reflect a heterogeneous in each lot. The
teak plantations in the evaluated lots present a high concentration of quality 2 individuals,
being the main cause for not qualifying as quality 1 the bifurcation. The number of
commercial logs per ha were concentrated in the qualities 1 and 2. The plantations in Palo
Arco present better growing levels than the plantations in Carrillo, for this reason there are
more favorable conditions in Palo Arco.
The index quality that were calculated for the different lots presented higher values than the
ones reported for Tectona grandis in the Peninsula of Nicoya. The General Quality Index
average is 2.08. The Harvest Quality Index average is 345. The Maximum Quality Index is
10.69. The Quality Productivity Index is 8.33.
