Sistema de control y seguimiento de obras del proyecto “Obras de Post-Cierre del Relleno Sanitario Río Azul

Abstract

The Río Azul Landfill is currently under a post-closure process to mitigate the harmful effects on the environment and the public health. The purpose of this work is to establish a control and monitoring system of the project “Río Azul Landfill’s Post-Closure Works”, focused on the areas of Scope, Time, Quality and Human Resources. This was achieved through the development of management tools for equipment and machinery, considering the number of operation hours, the diesel consumed by the equipment and the cost for the project; this way the effective working hours of the machinery were known in detail, obtaining the real costs associated to the equipment. Regarding the manpower, a ticket system was implemented, providing information of the manpower distribution in the different project activities. As part of this work, a field verification of the works’ quality was conducted to ensure they follow the technical specifications of the project; also an inspection and maintenance sheet for closed landfills was elaborated in order to follow the country’s regulation laws. In conclusion, it’s essential in any project to do works’ inspections both during the construction process and at the end to get the quality work expected. Finally, equipment monthly performance reports were prepared for the Project Management, and work areas were settled for the monthly maintenance activities, in order to cover all the Río Azul’s Landfill area.
