Compañía Constructora Urbanotecnia S.A. is a medium-scale company dedicated to the field of construction project execution that was founded in 2010; the same one always in continuous growth and in the search of a better position in the market. The construction projects have many edges in the execution process and it is essential to carry out an adequate management of all its stages in order to obtain the best results, especially in relation to the management of time, which is the area that has presented problems in the organization. For this, it is imperative to diagnose the deficiencies in the stages of the project; start, planning, control and monitoring and closing of the execution of the construction project. The purpose of the research project is to design a strategy to carry out an adequate management of the projects, through a methodological guide formed by all the knowledge areas established by the PMBok®, integrating in each process and tools adjusted to the environmental factors of the organization. . The research begins with the diagnosis of the assets in project management of the organization to define the current status; the next stage is an analysis of the best practices in construction project management from data collection of management strategies of projects currently used for the definition of a frame of reference in research. The third stage is based on determining the standards in the management of projects required in the organization in conjunction with the board of directors and project managers to perform a gap analysis of the current and desired state; and finally, the methodological guide and a plan to implement it are developed. The diagnosis of the assets in project management of the organization concludes that the organization lacks procedures in the great majority of the phases of the project; In addition, in the analysis of best practices in construction project management based on data collection of project management strategies currently used, a reference framework is defined for the researcher and the company in the recommended standards to be used in the project strategy to develop. When determining the standards required in the organization based on the results obtained in the previous stages it is defined that the developed Methodological Guide should be structured based on the phases of the project to guide and facilitate the use for the user, whether or not he has knowledge in management of projects. The structure of the proposed methodological guide for the standardization of projects in the company is based on the PMBok® guide and the extension for construction projects. It consists of tools and indications for use, processes, and other useful tools to guide project managers to perform tasks in the best way; all this is done by adjusting to the current state, type of projects and trying to minimize resistance to change by those involved. Among the most important conclusions of the research, is that the company does not have any system or procedures for the management of project information, does not compile results or lessons learned and the knowledge acquired by project is not used as learning for the management of future projects; In addition, the strategy, objectives, mission and vision of the organization are unknown to the employees and the administration and processes are not aligned, this being one of the most important points of improvement opportunities.
