Abstract
El Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica es una institución
nacional autónoma de educación superior universitaria de
índole público [1], y como tal, ofrece una variedad de
servicios a los estudiantes para facilitar su experiencia de
aprendizaje en la Institución. Entre estos se encuentran el
Sistema de Bibliotecas del Instituto Tecnológico de Costa
Rica, referido de ahora en adelante como SIBITEC, el
Laboratorio Institucional de Microcomputadores, referido
de ahora en adelante como LAIMI y el Restaurante
Institucional.
Si bien estos servicios se crearon con el objetivo de
satisfacer las necesidades de los estudiantes, y
ciertamente ayudaron a cumplirlas, conforme ha pasado
el tiempo estas necesidades han cambiado, ya que ha
aumentado el volumen de los estudiantes, así como sus
necesidades académicas.
En este contexto, se ve la necesidad de plantear un
rediseño de los servicios que ofrece el Instituto
Tecnológico de Costa Rica, basándose en la metodología
del Service Design. Se crea una propuesta del servicio
por medio de la herramienta Service Blueprint Beta, en
donde se estipulan todos los hallazgos y las
recomendaciones que se encuentran al realizar una
investigación interna, externa y una fase de ideación y
valoración de propuestas.
The Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica is an autonomous, national institution of superior education [1], as so, offers a vast variety of services for their students in order to ease the student’s learning experience at the Institution. These services include the Library System of the Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica, from now referred as SIBITEC, the Microcomputers Institutional Laboratory, from now referred as LAIMI and the Institutional Restaurant. While these services were created with the goal of meeting the needs of students, and they used to do it, as time has passed, these needs have changed, because students' volume has increased, as well as their academic needs. Based on this context, it seems clear the need to propose a redesign of the services offered by the Technological Institute of Costa Rica, based on the Service Design methodology. In order to achieve this, a service proposal is created through the Service Blueprint Beta tool, which shows all the discoveries and recommendations found at the internal and external investigation phases, and at the ideation and evaluation of proposals.
