Abstract
Los empresarios forestales del cantón de Pérez Zeledón, San José, han visto con el
paso del tiempo la dificultad para comercializar sus productos con algún tipo de valor
agregado, siendo que el principal mercado de madera del cantón ha sido el embalaje,
que es un producto de bajo valor agregado. El presente estudio pretende establecer
un panorama general de la comercialización de los productos forestales en este cantón
y así permitir establecer una estrategia para la competencia comercial de los productos
forestales de madera nacional en la región, respecto a los productos forestales de
madera importada. Para lograr lo anterior se entrevistó a empresas que comercializan
productos forestales, precios, frecuencia de ventas, tipo de productos y especies
utilizadas. Al conocer las condiciones del mercado, se generó la estrategia de
mercadeo para estos productos generada bajo las 7 Ps, con el fin que los productores
aumenten su competitividad en el mercado. Se determinó que la madera aserrada
importada tiene gran presencia en el mercado, encontrándose en la totalidad de las
ferreterías, que son los principales puntos de venta de madera aserrada. Para la
industria de muebles, existe un mercado de baja gama, posicionado con madera
importada. Los resultados obtenidos son aplicables exclusivamente en el cantón de
Pérez Zeledón y siempre se requerirá estar en frecuente investigación.
The forestry entrepreneurs of Pérez Zeledón, have witnessed over time a great difficulty to market their products with some type of added value, being that the main market for wood in the area has been the wood platforms, which is a product of very low added value, this study pretends to establish a general overview of the marketing of forest products in Pérez Zeledón and thus allow to establish a strategy for the commercial competition of domestic forest products in the region considering the use of imported wood products into town. To be able to achieve this objective several interviews with local forest product companies were conducted to obtain important information in regards to the market of forest products, prices, sales, type of products, and wood species. Knowing the market conditions, a marketing strategy for these products has been generated under the1 7 Ps, for producers to increase their competitiveness in the market. It was possible to determine that imported sawn wood has a great presence in the local market since it has been found in all hardware stores, which are the main sale points of sawn wood. For the construction of furniture, there is a limited market, mainly dominated by imported wood. The obtained results are exclusively applicable to the canton de Pérez Zeledón and it will always be required to maintain an ongoing investigation.
