Abstract

This Project, deals with quality control, in pavement structures, in Cantón de Pococí, Limon, Costa Rica. Among our goals is to run an assessment process on the present quality control processes, and whether or not they are being used, and also to present a consult document, in which procedures and quality specifications, are summarized. Site visits, library research, Technical Unit from Road Department information, as well as interviews with Project personnel. The present document concluded that there are no formal design and planning phases in this particular District. During our observations, it was obvious that quality control is not performed, and that many times political decisions, prevent Tech Unit, from performing what is best form the designing team point of view. The procedure manual is intended to be a tool, for establishing a design, planning and quality control program, for roads, and highway construction and maintenance projects, within de Local Government.
