Abstract
Proposal of improvement in the launching process of new pharmaceutical products through a business intelligence solution. (Final Graduation Project). Academic Area of Information Technology Management. Costa Rican Technology Institute. This project aims to propose an improvement in the launching process of new pharmaceutical products through the development of a business intelligence solution during the second semester of 2023. Currently, the product launch process of a pharmaceutical company does not have a tool that adapts to the needs they have as an affiliate with multiple countries and consequently, various manual and inefficient mechanisms have been developed to solve the need for monitoring the activities. These mechanisms have negatively impacted the process and generated inefficiency in decision-making as it is a slow and complex the process. To achieve this goal, a descriptive methodology with a qualitative approach is used that consists of five phases. Firstly, an in-depth analysis of the current process is carried out to analyze points of improvement and bottlenecks. Next, as the initial phase of the solution proposal, Madison's (2005) methodology is used for process redesign and the redesign lenses and Dumas (2018) added value analysis are applied to identify the tasks that can be eliminated. when implementing the BI solution. Once the desired process was defined, the requirements were raised together with the NPI team (New Products Introduction) for the construction of five dashboards that satisfy the needs of the NPI launching process. Finally, following the Kimball methodology (2013) for the development of business intelligence projects, the dashboards were built but not before carrying out the ETL process and centralizing the data in a NPI Datamart.
