Abstract
The Agromonte Agricola Company S.A. that performed the research on efficacy of Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt's) alternated with Sevin®48 (Carbaryl) in the control of Strymon basilides (Lep: Lycaenidae) and Elaphria nucicolora (lep: Noctuidae) in fruit, pineapple (Anana comosus) (L) hybrid Merr MD-2, is located in the North Huetar Costa Rica, specifically in the Boca Arenal district of the canton of San Carlos, Alajuela, which is dedicated to the production and export of pineapple hybrid MD-2. The objective of this research was to determine the biological efficacy of five sources of Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt's) alternated with carbaryl (Sevin ® 48), in reducing the population of Strymon Basilides and Elaphria nucicolora during the stage flowering and formation of the fruit in hybrid pineapple MD-2, in which six treatments were applied from 45 days after flower induction (ddif) to 132 ddif, applied every seven days. Treatments consisted of initial application of Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt's) emphasized for the control of larvae of Thecla (Strymon Basilides), followed by applications for the control of Armyworms (Elaphria nucicolora) but also with a different Bacillus thuringiensis strain, were compared with a control and treatment of all property. Through observation it was determined the incidence and behavior of immature Strymon Basilides and Elaphria nucicolora for 15 samples, performed seven days after each application. These observations showed the population behavior of larvae and beet armyworm key at 63, 84 and 105 (ddif). The different sources of Bacillus thuringiensis exercised control on larvae of S. basilides to the moment of its appearance, of equal way in the control of the larvae of E. nucicolora, though the statistical analysis did not reveal any significant, the treatments had control of the larvae behaving from the same form to the treatment of estate
